Fast and permanent pain-relief is often observed especially in acute cases. Chronic diseases, developing from internal causes are usually slower to respond, but usually disappear gradually over time. The AcuScen Pro+ aims to sedate/reinforce/harmonize while decreasing the local variations in the skin impendence which is in close correlation with the state of the relevant tissues and organs. The AcuScen Pro+ signal stimulates the body's own electrical currents, which in turn triggers chemical reactions at the cellular level. The AcuScen Pro+ acts on the body's self-healing mechanisms and that is why it is effective for a wide variety of disorders.

The AcuScen's biofeedback feature 'talks' to the nerves and muscles of the body, gently stimulating them with a series of electric impulses of varying frequencies. This nerve stimulation treatment causes the body to release neuropeptide-generating C-fibres necessary to assist the body's immune system to repair and heal.

AcuScen technology is superior to TENS machines in that it has a biofeedback function to prevent the body from adapting to the device's signal. This ensures long lasting and permanent relief of the patient's condition especially when used in a course of consecutive treatments.

The AcuScen Pro+ model features five output working modes including - Auto, Manual, Scan, Double VAR and Micro-Current Tens machine Stimulation. The Scan Mode is a diagnostic and therapeutic tool and features automatic dosage calculation as well as an objective analysis of the patients condition. One of the best features in the AcuScen Pro+ is the effectiveness and flexibility of the SCAN Mode function. Only in the Pro+ can you have diagnostic capabilties and automatic dosage operating simultaneously with the powerful 'Double Var' treatment settings. This is one of the main reasons the Pro+ is preferred over any other model.

Auto Mode

The mechanism of bio-feedback plays the main role to individualize therapeutic process while you apply AUTO mode. AcuScen generates pulses, sends them to the skin and also recognizes changes of the skin under electrodes and adjusts some characteristic of the pulses. When the skin's resistance has reached the optimal level, it is displayed on the screen and a sound signal is produced. This means that the minimum effective dose has been achieved for that particular skin area and treatment can now be moved to another location.

The device administers a constant dose of energetic output according to pre-established, fixed parameters. Auto Mode is ideal for those quick-fix situations that call for a dosage of electronic first-aid.  As soon as the electrode touches the skin, the unit starts to deliver a measured dose of energy which can be observed on a progress bar in the LCD display.  A ringing sound indicates when the dose is completed.

The AUTO Mode is used on a clearly defined area of pain or applied to an acupoint. Start with the most painful point and keep the device stationary until the audio beep/display indicates that the Dose is reached. Then the device may be moved to an adjacent area and the process repeated until all the problem area is covered.

Ideal as a quick first aid for minor aches and pains and acute conditions it works well as a general "pick-me-up". It is also great for stress-relief and for muscle treatment. There are several methods for application of the device which are based on Traditional Chinese Medicine rules and are described in the accompanied Manual.

In Auto mode only the Energy can be adjusted.

Manual Mode

Manual mode is designed to apply individual settings so treatment can be carried out on specific conditions. You can adjust not only Energy, but also Frequency of the blocks of pulses, separate pulses within blocks, modulation, depth, damping and when working regime alternates with the pause, etc. The standard default frequency in manual mode is 77 Hz.

Manual Mode is usually applied when the painful problem is deeper than superficial level. This Mode offers the widest range of operator-adjustable parameters, all of which are programmable - combine any of the operator adjustable outputs to create and store up to five custom programs.  This feature is a great time saver when working with different patients on a series of treatment sessions.

Manual mode is also useful for persistent and deeper-rooted chronic problems. When it is necessary to use the device on larger areas it may be more convenient to move it. Move the device smoothly and slowly over the skin area. Look for the small asymmetries, these are areas where the electrode sticks (almost a magnetic pull on the skin), the skin area changes colour, the device sounds different, and/or the area is more/less sensitive than the surrounding skin.

Small asymmetries may not appear instantly but take up to a minute of working on the skin area to reveal them. Focus the treatment on the small asymmetries. When an effect of "stickiness" is evident the device should be moved in the "easier going" direction. Choose the direction of electrode travel, which reduces or eliminates the pathological characteristics the area. If the treatment is successful the stickiness or other signs of small asymmetry will decrease or disappear.

MANUAL mode is useful for persistent and deeper-rooted chronic problems.

The output parameters in Manual mode are fully adjustable.

Double Variable

Double Variable (DVar) mode is a unique powerful option which is not presented in any other electro-pulse device with bio-feedback. It is added to AcuScen devices for treatment problems which have a deep location within the body and is also used for acting on acupoints. The main idea of this mode was to change and automatically vary the depth of pulse penetration. As it is well known our skin looks like a multilayer capacitor, so it is necessary to apply various frequencies to penetrate at various depth of skin.

As this mode is especially effective for deep penetration into large muscle areas, it is very useful when the problem is deep inside the skin or muscles. In this mode both Frequency and Depth are pre-set to Variable. The Frequency (number of impulses per block) swings from 10Hz to 120Hz and the Depth (number of blocks per second) from 1 to 8 over a 30 second interval period. At its highest the frequency of the single impulse will reach 120 x 8= 960 pulses per second.

The AcuScen device is held stationary for at least 2-3 minutes to the stubborn problem area or area of pain or is moved slowly over it. In the latter case the effect of the electrical massage is realized.

Double Variable Regime in Manual Mode

Should it be desired to also adjust the Damping and Modulation settings, DVar can also be set in Manual Mode.

Scan Mode

SCAN mode unleashes the full power of ACUSCEN devices. In the hands of an experienced operator, it becomes an extremely powerful tool giving the greatest flexibility and range of options to treat almost any condition efficiently & effectively. It has it all, automatic dose capabilities, objective analysis of the treatment area (measurements are displayed upon the screen), and flexibility of all parameter settings.

SCAN mode is a diagnostic and therapeutic mode and it is only featured in the Pro+ model. It can detect the difference of electrical parameters between various skin areas and provides a way of objectively identifying the local variations in the skin impendence - thus the areas to focus the treatment upon. The electrical properties of the area of skin can be measured before and after the treatment - and the progress objectively estimated. It is useful for the complex cases when the cause of problem is not obvious.

The SCAN mode is also a treatment mode as it has a therapeutic action. As in AUTO mode apply the device to one point at a time to make it possible for the software to monitor the changing parameters of the impulse. While these parameters are just measured in AUTO Mode, in SCAN they are also displayed on the screen.

The Dose signal in SCAN mode corresponds to Dose signal in AUTO, but SCAN provides for also second more accurate Dose indication which follows first Dose signal sometimes much later.

In SCAN mode, the Parameters are not preset. This allows the flexibility to set frequency, modulation, depth and damping settings to your choosing. You could, for example, set Frequency to 'variable' and Depth to 'variable, thus giving you the powerful therapeutic effectiveness of 'Double Var' together with automatic dose capabilities. In SCAN mode, not only will you obtain an objective analysis but the device will also automatically signal when treatment is complete.

Mio-Stimulation Mode

In this mode the AcuScen works similarly to the TENS machine. i.e. just as a pulse generator. Software analysis of the body reaction is not necessary and is not taking place.

The pulses send by the device copy the message the brain sends to the muscle to make it contract during normal exercise. The conductive pads of the external electrode (included with the AcuScen Pro+) are placed over the motor points of the muscle group. When the passive stimulation is applied the muscle contracts just as if it is receiving a signal from the brain. E.g. the hand will jerk up/down - when the forearm muscle is stimulated.

Muscle stimulation is beneficial for an injured or paralyzed muscle - as it exercises it and so assists in the healing and strengthening. It is useful for tendon or ligament injury, degenerative muscle disorders, with re-occurring hamstring problems, sore knee, weak ankles or strained elbows, treatment of back pain, lumbago, sciatica, tension, headache, sport strains and all muscle related injuries.

It can be used in beauty treatments for general muscle toning. The Micro-Current Mode is only featured in the Pro+ model and comes included with the "Conductive Pads" Universal Remote Electrode.
