"What is the difference between Scenar & Cosmodic technologies?"
Basically there are two generations of Scenar, the first generation is called 'Scenar' and the second generation is called 'Cosmodic'. Cosmodic is the latest technology and is by far the best. All the first generation Scenar's on the market today are variants of the original Scenar-035 model which was released back in 1990. Since 1990, apart from some minor model changes, no further developments in first generation scenar technology has been made. See section on "Scenar History". Even though the first generation scenar technology is over 20 years old, it still works for a lot of conditions. Be aware that with first generation Scenar's, there are a lot of models made by different manufacturers, at various price levels, some being much better than others in their clinical applications. On the other hand Cosmodic, being second generation scenar technology, is constantly being improved and is much more sophisticated and advanced at handling complex chronic conditions than first generation scenar.
The basic differences between the two are that the first generation scenars work fast and are good at starting the healing process. They used for pain relief and stimulating the immune system. Second generation scenar's, (Cosmodic) start off slower but go much deeper and by working at the cellular level take the healing and restorative processes much further. They have the ability to restore cells to their normal full functioning capabilities as well as invoking the complicated task of regeneration, even to the point of stimulating the body to convert stem cells to regenerate tissue to where it is needed. Cosmodic is also more capable in dealing with complex issues as well as with a wider range of chronic conditions. Ideally a scenar device should have both technologies and this is reason why the top of the range Cosmodic Scenars like the EX735Ag employ both first and second generation scenar technologies. This way you have the best of both worlds. The main advantage that first generation scenars have over Cosmodic is affordability.
Please note: Cosmodic scenars are the only second generation scenar on the market and are manufactured by LET Medical Laboratories. The easiest way to tell the difference between what is a first generation scenar and what is a second generation scenar is that any scenar device that is not manufactured by LET Medical Laboratories is a first generation scenar.
"All of the Cosmodic devices are called "Scenar-Cosmodic". Does this mean they all have first generation and second generation Scenar technologies?"
Though the Cosmodic devices are called 'Scenar-Cosmodic', it does not mean that they all employ both Scenar & Cosmodic technologies. Both first and second generation devices are called Scenar's because that was the acronym given to describe the technology back in the late 1980's. S.C.E.N.A.R. stands for "Self-Controlled Energo-Neuro-Adaptive Regulator". Cosmodic is the next developmental stage of Scenar technology.
In regard to Cosmodic devices, only the 'Professional' models have both Scenar & Cosmodic technologies. These are the EX735Ag Modific, EX735Ag Standard, the VX735 Ag & L models. Out of these four models only the EX735Ag Standard & EX735Ag Modific have the advanced 'Active Scenar' and 'Active Cosmodic' technologies. Also the 735 models have a special feature called "biological passport of the patient", which tunes the device specifically to a particular patient when the electrodes touch the skin.
"Which is the best value Scenar/Cosmodic?"
In regard to which is the best value Scenar, it all depends on what you want to use it for. First you need to decide which technology you want, Scenar or Cosmodic. Scenar works fast and will do a lot, pain relief, sporting injuries, colds & flu, itchiness, bites, acute and some chronic conditions. Cosmodic is better in dealing with chronic disorders and will assist in the regeneration of tissue but it takes time and can require regular treatments. Generally speaking, the more complicated the problem, the more sophisticated the technology needs to be to deal with it.
"What are some examples of first generation and second generation scenars?"
Scenars like AcuScen & RITM are examples of first generation scenar models. First generation scenar technology has been around for over 20 years and there are many brands and models currently in the market place. Second generation scenars are called Cosmodics and are developed and manufactured only by LET Medical Research Laboratories. At the top of the Cosmodic range are the EX735Ag Standard and the EX735Ag Modific and are the latest release of the professional models. The EX735Ag models have the more advanced 'Active Scenar' and 'Active Cosmodic' technologies. Earlier professional models such as the VX735Ag and VX735L were released back in 2002 & 1998 respectfully.
"Does Scenar & Cosmodic have government approval?"
If you intend to use Cosmodic or Scenar for personal use then goverment approval is not necessary. However, if you are going to use Cosmodic/Scenar in a therapy practice, then you will need to be aware of the health laws in your country. Cosmodic is a new technology and does not currently have all the recognised government approvals outside Russia, whereas Scenar, being a older technology, does.
"Are you aware of any books or manuals for these devices? Do the devices come with good manuals and how to info?"
In regard to the use of a first generation Scenar's there is heaps of information on the net. As far as application goes, Cosmodic is more forgiving than Scenar. Scenar needs to be more accurately applied whereas Cosmodic, close enough is generally good enough.
All Cosmodic Scenars come with basic manuals, but there is a book I recommend by Dr Alexander Karasev called "Recommendations on Scenar and Cosmodic Treatment". If you buy a Cosmodic ask for this manual to be included.
"In regard to Cosmodic devices, do you just turn it on and wave it around like a magic wand so to speak and it takes care of the rest?"
Cosmodic's are fully automatic. They turn on automatically when the electrodes touch the skin and the energy (power) level is also adjusted automatically during treatment. They have automatic diagnosis to show you where to apply treatment and automatic dose where the device signals when treatment has finished. If you leave your Cosmodic on after you have finished your treatment, it will even turn itself off after two minutes to save on batteries. So as you can see it is very simple to use. The EX735Ag goes further in that it will also select either Scenar or Cosmodic modes automatically depending on what the body needs. It does have a manual over ride if required.
"Is training absolutely necessary to use Cosmodic Scenar devices?"
Cosmodic Scenars are fully automatic, very simple to use and require no formal training. Alexander Karasev (the inventor of both Scenar and Cosmodic) has said that a high level of training is not necessary to achieve good results. He has been quoted as saying that he "designed it to be used by anybody without any special medical training". In his book, "Recommendations on Scenar and Cosmodic Treatment", Dr Karasev also says that "Scenar can be applied by anyone, who is familiar with the manual and instructions on the use of Scenar. "
Automated devices, like Cosmodic maybe more expensive but you will not have to spend money on training. If you are going to use it for yourself and family members then we will provide with more than enough information for you to get good results without the need for expensive training. Remember that the application of Cosmodic is not meant to be complicated. It is meant to be simple, just as it's inventor, Dr Karasev, designed it to be.
"I've found several websites (a lot of Russian) about Scenars. I emailed one of them for a price list, and they sent me one, but all the prices were in euros! And there was no order form or any instructions on how to buy one."
As Cosmodic scenars are developed and made in Russia by LET Medical Laboratories, it is normal for prices to be quoted in euros. Understanding scenar technology with all the various makes and models that are available can be confusing and dealing with someone who can advise you objectively and without bias is very important. When making your scenar purchase you need to take into account issues like after sales service, support, treatment advice and warranty.
"I am looking at buying a new Cosmodic and was wondering what the difference is between the C-DOVE and the PS705mini?"
The C-Dove is exactly the same as the PS705mini, just rebadged for the western market.
"I have read that scenar can cause a healing crisis? Is this true with Cosmodic too?"
First generation scenar works fast because the signal tends to 'shout' to get the body's attention. You can feel it as a 'prickly' sensation on the skin when compared to the Cosmodic signal which has a softer, more refined feel to it. The scenar signal can sometimes lead to what is known as the "Herxheimer Effect" or more commonly known as a healing crisis where there is a worsening of the symptoms prior to improvement. Cosmodic does not invoke this over stimulated healing response in the body. "Can you please explain what the difference are between the stainless steel electodes and the silver electrodes?"
